The Essential Points of Differences Between CBSE ICSE and IB Curriculums


The education boards in India vary significantly, from their curriculum to their course study. The way of teaching and the examinations also differ in these education boards. The flexibility of it is only in the case of the 5th subject. ICSE also offers a group of subjects, but they are more expansive and add more volume and intensity to the course study.  IB offers in-depth knowledge of the subjects that the students choose. In this case, the students are given the option to choose from 6 different subject groups.


  1. Assessment criteria- While CBSE evaluates students on how well they can memorize and understand the context, the other boards emphasize more on skill development and its application. 



  1. Complexity level - CBSE is not a very complex way of learning. More focus is given on the application of knowledge and is generic in its structure. On the other hand, the ICSE curriculum can be a little demanding. Various essays, quizzes, and portfolios are required to evaluate the students’ performance. The IB curriculum is even more arduous than the other two Indian boards. They focus a lot on the internal assessment.
